Glass Group
The optical
glass are classified by their main chemical components. The alphabetic
designation corresponds to traditionally developed practice, grouped into
the crown-glass and the flint-glass. Note: Gost's optical glass are divided
into glass groups, as follows.

Glass Type
The ea. glass type within a group is designated by the abbreviated group
symbol and a number. The alphabetic designation corresponds to traditionally
developed practice: the optical glass was named crown-glass and flint-glass.
This alphabetic designation used by experts in calculations of optical
systems, also is kept in this catalog version. Our Gost's optical glass
types are designated by symbols of the factory options, specification GOST
No. 3514 Optical glass - Specification, or DIN 58925 Optical glass -
Principal concepts.
E.g. GOST K8, SCHOTT BK7, HOYA BSL7..., etc.
Glass Code
In addition to our glass type designation, a six-digit code number is listed
in this catalog. The first three digits indicate the nd after the decimal
point, and the last three digits represent the νd.
E.g. in K8 the nd is 1.51637 and the νd is 64.07, which we indicate as glass
code (d) 516-640..., etc.
